New regulations throughout construction sites in London require that construction plant and equipment over 10 years old must be replaced in order to meet Stage 3A standards for NOx and emissions. The new rules, beginning 1st September 2015, apply to non-road mobile machinery with net power between 27kW and 560kW.
The Mayor of London introduced and announced the new mandatory rules in the Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) published last year, in an effort to control dust and emissions on site during construction and demolition.
These London regulations specify that equipment over 10 years old must be replaced on construction sites in Central London and large developments in Outer London. There will be occasional exemptions for specialist construction machinery.
